Pedagogy and psychology specialists from all over Moldova learn how to effectively prevent bullying

From January to June 2023 APSCF is organising a programme for trainers on the application of the conceptual and methodological framework on bullying prevention at national level.

Specialists in pedagogy and psychology from all over the country have the opportunity to learn useful information and effective methods, with the help of which they can contribute to preventing and combating the phenomenon of bullying so widespread in the school environment.

After graduating from the trainers’ programme, the specialists will in turn pass on the “lessons learned” to teachers across the country, thus facilitating the implementation of the conceptual and methodological framework on bullying prevention.

The expert in the field, Sorina Petrică, from Romania, said that this session will help participants to understand for themselves what they think about bullying, to recognise and discourage bullying behaviours, and to intervene correctly when dealing with identified cases.

The participants in the training mentioned that they were able to gain more information about bullying behaviour and its forms of manifestation, about the short and long term consequences of bullying on children’s development. At the same time, they gained more confidence in their own ability to deal with bullying-specific issues and were ready to pass on the information learned to others in the educational field.

Present at the event, the representative of the Ministry of Education and Research, Rodica Braguța, discussed with the seminar participants the technical ways of disseminating the practices learned during the trainings, as well as answered the questions of the trainees.

The Secretary general of APSCF, Irina Popușoi urged the participants to make use of the informational and methodological support provided during the trainings and to implement in their further work the practical tools for prevention and intervention in cases of bullying. Irina Popușoi thanked the specialists in pedagogy and psychology for their participation in the training programme, appreciating the effort they make every day to ensure the well-being of students.

The training programme includes four training sessions in physical format and three online meetings, dedicated to facilitating intervention programmes with pupils, teachers, specialists of multidisciplinary teams in schools and parents.

According to the study, conducted by UNICEF in 2019 “Bullying among adolescents in the Republic of Moldova”, the extent of this phenomenon is more than worrying: 8 out of 10 students in grades VI – XII are affected by bullying. In order to contribute to the eradication of this phenomenon in schools in the Republic of Moldova, APSCF has initiated a series of activities within the project “Together for Quality Education”. One of the successes of the project is contributing to the development of the Methodology on Combating and Preventing Bullying which was approved and implemented on 11 November 2022.

The training program is organized by the Alliance of NGOs active in the field of Child and Family Social Protection (APSCF) within the project “Together for Quality Education” implemented by APSCF with the financial support of Liechtenstein Development Service Moldova (LED).
