The Alliance of Active NGOs in the Field of Child and Family Social Protection (APSCF) announces the launch of the Alexandra Grajdian Trophy Award for CURAJ AND INNOVATION in promoting inclusive education. The trophy registered with the National Heraldry Commission is awarded annually by the APSCF to institutions that have made a substantial and lasting contribution to the development and promotion of inclusive education. Education institutions can participate in the competition: kindergartens, primary schools, gymnasiums, high schools, vocational schools, colleges, universities and others.
The contest consists of 4 stages:
- Nomination and Receiving applications Period (August 22 – September 23, 2018);
- Evaluation of applications (September 24-28 2018);
- Visits to the territory of the Members of the Evaluation Committee (October 1-12, 2018);
- Handing over the trophy and prize (end of October – early November).
The eligibility criteria of the institutions according to the Regulation are the following:
- Courage and innovation in promoting inclusive education (fighting stereotypes, promoting change, flexibility in developing inclusive education services, adapting services to the real needs of students, etc.);
- Accessibility of the institution from all perspectives (for example: taking into account the needs of children with special educational needs included in school at that stage;
- Leadership in implementing inclusive education (eg by providing methodical assistance and other actions that lead to changing attitudes and behaviors at the educational institution level in the effective organization of the inclusive education process);
- Advocacy / advocacy for inclusive education (for example: to prevent discrimination, to monitor the implementation of educational policies at the local level that provide for the respect of children’s right to education and social participation in the community);
- Cooperation and partnerships with parents, community, local government, NGOs, etc. (eg by organizing joint actions with community and intersectoral actors responsible for ensuring respect for children’s rights at local / regional / national level);
- Promoting pro-actively their own experiences by disseminating best practice in inclusive education.
In this context, APSCF asks to nominate educational institutions to award the “Alexandra Grajdian” Trophy for CURAJ AND INNOVATION in promoting inclusive education. Nominations for the award of the Trophy can be made by the central public administration, the local public administration, the Psycho-pedagogical Assistance Services, the Education Directorates, NGOs (APSCF members and non-members), public and private institutions.
The winning design institution will receive the “Alexandra Grajdian” Trophy for CURAJ AND INNOVATION in promoting inclusive education, accompanied by a financial prize; will be promoted through the media; will receive nominations from the APSCF for participation in international competitions in the field of Inclusive Education; will be invited to participate in the activities / events organized by APSCF.
