APSCF Announces the Winners of the “Alexandra Grajdian” Trophy for Courage and Innovation in Inclusive Education

The “Regina Maria” Kindergarten from Ialoveni and the “Mihai Eminescu” Lyceum from Căușeni have been awarded the “Alexandra Grajdian” Trophy, while eight other educational institutions from across the country received diplomas and prizes for courage and innovation in inclusive education. The awards were presented by the Alliance of NGOs Active in the Field of Child and Family Social Protection (APSCF) during the Inclusive Education Gala.

Daniela Mămăligă, President of the APSCF Coordination Council, congratulated all the awarded institutions, emphasizing the importance of ensuring equal opportunities for every child in education, regardless of the challenges they face.

“These awards are a sign of appreciation from civil society for the commitment and dedication shown in promoting inclusive education and contributing to the creation of an accessible and equitable education system for all children in the Republic of Moldova,” said Ms. Mămăligă.

Present at the event, Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research, thanked everyone involved for their efforts to guarantee every child’s right to education, regardless of their individual needs, and for creating an environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Among the kindergartens and schools awarded diplomas for outstanding achievements in promoting and implementing inclusive education were:

  • Crèche–Kindergarten No. 4 “Zâmbetul”, Cahul
  • Early Education Institution No. 37, Bălți
  • Theoretical Lyceum “Meșterul Manole”, Sălcuța, Căușeni District
  • Theoretical Lyceum “Nicolae Bălcescu”, Ciorescu, Chișinău Municipality
  • Theoretical Lyceum “Alexei Mateevici”, Pîrlița, Ungheni District
  • Theoretical Lyceum “Ioan Sârbu”, Ignăței, Rezina District
  • “Popeasca” Gymnasium, Popeasca, Ștefan Vodă District
  • Russian Gymnasium “Dimitrie Cantemir”, Ștefan Vodă

This year, for the first time, the “Alexandra Grajdian” Contest was organized separately for kindergartens and schools. The selection criteria included innovation and advocacy in promoting inclusive education, cooperation with parents and the community, dissemination of good practices in the field, and the provision of support services for children from refugee families from Ukraine, among others. In total, 50 applications were received from across the country this year.

The “Alexandra Grajdian” Trophy is an initiative of APSCF member organizations, awarded in memory of Alexandra Grajdian, a distinguished figure in the field of child rights protection and a passionate advocate for inclusive education.
